I know it seems like there will be no party for the New Year´s Eve this years!
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes…you’re Doing Something. “
In the next few paragraphs, I would like to share a piece of my life story. Some aspects of my life that not many people know but those things formed me as a person, the kind of adventurous and entrepreneurial woman that does not stop dreaming. What is the origin of my love for travel, my desire to discover new things, and try to learn new languages. Some dreams were shattered along the way, but the new ones arose from my way of living, and my way of wanting something more out of life. That is, maybe, the part of Keilley, that I would like to share with you now.
My mother was the source of my love for traveling! My parents split up when I was about two years old and I don’t have any real memories of my father, maybe only that he traveled for work often, and one day, well, he simply didn’t return. He worked as a promoter/producer of forro band, a type of music well known in the northern part of Brazil. He worked with big names in the industry at that time, and he became a well-known producer.
My mother was a gospel singer in Bahia. Part of her job was to visit churches in different cities and towns, located in my native Bahia. We started to move around when I was about three years old and we visited many churches.
My older sister also took on singing gospel and I took the opportunity to preach. I like to talk about God with people already at that young age. I remember many occasions when I could talk with someone about God, and their eyes would get misty, maybe because my words were coming from my heart, and were not polluted by adult thinking. So we kept on traveling, meeting more people and getting to know more places.
My mother was always on lookout for a better job, better conditions for her three kids (yes, I have a younger brother as well), and to allow them to get the best education possible.

Modeling was around me, since my sister worked in the industry and won several beauty contests in Brazil, and it affected me in my early years.
I wanted to follow her footsteps, learn how to walk, dress, and all the other things.
My body wasn’t built to walk on catwalks, and my large breasts were not taken as a great asset in the industry.
My development started early, as soon as when I was ten years old, my chest started to form and didn’t stop growing until I was well in high school. It is not easy for a teenage girl to have her dreams crushed because of her big breasts. It was not only about modeling. Children at school often teased me about it, giving me a hard time, for something that I should be proud of from the very beginning. But at that time, it felt a little bit more as a curse, since it made my dreams impossible.
Around that time, volleyball came to my life, and made me forget about the modeling. Something that served me as an escape, soon became my love.
I put all my energy into becoming as good of a player as I could have possibly be. I felt the passion for the game, and my rapid growth only kept on motivating me more. Soon enough, I could also see pleasant results on my body, which was a great “side effect” of practicing hard every day.
Playing volleyball completely changed my perspective on life and by the age of 14, I ended up totally falling in love with the sport. Soon enough, my younger brother would join me, and we practiced together quite often. The routine of practicing and everything that was around it, made me feel great, and my taste of exercising was cultivated in me since that age. I started to play volleyball professionally, taking the sport more seriously. I went to Curitiba to get to another level. In that city were one of the best teams in the country, more opportunities to develop and get exposure. I did many tryouts and my experience grew rapidly. I got to meet many different types of managers, coaches, and when I look back now, it really prepared me well for the future.
Some time later, I went from indoor volleyball to beach volleyball. It was a new experience, and also a new opportunity for me to travel. Even to the foreign countries.
The emotion was immense. I couldn’t believe that something that I loved so much could open more doors from me.
When an opportunity to play in Europe professionally came by, I didn’t hesitate. When I crossed the Atlantic, and I landed in the Charles de Gaul airport in Paris, I felt an urge of thought, maybe a feeling, that I would never return to Brazil. That Europe would be my new home. It is a sensation hard to explain, and in my native language (Portuguese), we call it “a matter of skin and heart”.
I was enchanted with the old continent.
Every country, every city that I have lived in or visited, made me feel awesome and I never felt like leaving this place.
Spain would become my headquarters, since I learned the language quite easily, and it was not hard to fall in love with the climate and the local gastronomy. Looking back, all of this happened because of my passion for volleyball, and I am eternally grateful for it. It shaped me into a person that I am today!!

Oh yes girls and boys, The 080 Fashion Week Barcelona 2020 was wonderful. It was a week full of glamor and futuristic visions on the catwalk and it gave as a litle glimpse on what is coming for Autumn-Winter 2020-2021.
Gloria Lladó, with her signature “Eikō Ai” presented the collection ‘Quantum One’ a collection inspired by celestial bodies and the brightness of the Milky Way. Light tones with infusion of brightness, artificial colors, lilac, mint and whitish lights. A sophisticated and feminine woman with delicate and contemporary clothes. All a splendor!
The discreet charm of the French style dazzled the catwalks of the Fashion Week Barcelona 2020 with designs inspired by the powerful and feminine women created by Maite By Lola Casademunt, introducing a game of elegance and daring that seduced everyone present.
Óscar León also showed up with some innovative designs, with new printed reflections, t-shirts, mixtures of textures and with the color turmeric as a novelty. Although he was not forgetting the black color, which is its base.
I was struck this year by the Sonia Carrasco collection, marked by a strong commitment to the environment. Carrasco baptized his collection by giving it the name of the coordinates of the Pacific Plastic Island “45.376543, 59.651328”. All his contemporary designs are made from organic materials, all very beautiful. And what about Juan Avellaneda, it was a celebration of glamor, good vibes and amazing designs in all its forms.
Definitely guys this year the 080 fashion week in Barcelona was full of excitement, an ode to European avant-garde fashion. If you missed it this year, then follow me on Instagram @keillylee and on my website www.keilley.com where You can find everything that is fashionable, the best fashion events in Europe and the best tips for you to live your life to the fullest, because we live to enjoy.
When you venture to live the life to the fullest, enjoying the best moments that God gives you and you overcome every obstacle along the way, it is when you really value your friendships. My dearest friend Tania Askenazí is much more for me, it is a true friendship.
It has been 14 years since we started to live through great moments, shared parties, went on the trips and unique adventures but also we have gone through some difficult moments.
The way we met was very curious. It was for that red dress! lol. I remember we were at a party in Barcelona, and Tania approached me intrigued by a nice red dress that I wore that night. She came over and said “Oh, what a cute dress! Where did you buy it?” And I sincerely confessed: “Well, in a Chinese shop, and and it was very cheap… hahaha.” Tania quickly understood that as I valued top clothing brands, I also appreciated the original and beautiful simple designs, even if they are not created by a large well known firm. Like is life to appreciated the little moments and little things.
Just at that moment a beautiful friendship was born, since beyond that beautiful cheap red dress that caught her attention. We both noticed that we had many things in common, we had much to talk about and many adventures to live.
Tania is a girl that is full of energy, always has a smile on her face that makes your day. It’s that person you always want to have by your side, to enjoy a good coffee, watching a sunset. Or to enjoy a night full of dances, drinks and lots of fun with friends.Today is her birthday, and I wanted to share with you a little of me, because this girl is worth gold.
We always travel together, we have had wonderful adventures in different destinations such as Cuba, Brazil and all around Europe. Tania has always been the friend who doesn’t do something to please you 24 hours a day.
For example, sometimes when she went to sleep I was going to dance (hahaha) and if I felt tired, she was going to ride a horse on the beach. Afterwards, we would meet to enjoy talking about our experiences. It’s like we always understood our differences and made room for one another.
It has really been a very sincere friendship. She really has been a great pillar of friendship, of courage, has always given me valuable advice with the right words (even though sometimes maybe things that I didn’t want to hear, and that’s what real friends do for each other) , and she is someone who understands me very well.
Friendship is to have fun, not to take advantage of the other, true friendship does not imply a plan for exchanging favors, but the fact of always being there during the happiest and also the most difficult moments. That is the true friendship that we have and it’s definitely worth of writing about.
A friendship that not even distance can break, sometimes when I had to go to live outside of Spain for my husband’s work and after months that we did not travel, or because each one with a busy schedule of work and travel. And there are always those moments when I would love to be with her, and I confess, whenever we are separated I count the days and hours to enjoy my “black panther” as we call her with love.
I love you my dear friend…
“Paris is always a good idea!!”
Yes, this phrase is very famous and typical but so true. It doesn’t matter how many times i have been to Paris, I put my hand up without a second thought when someone brings up potential trip to french capital.
Staying in Paris makes me feel glamorous, fancy, romantic…hold on…the romantic part can be tricky because to be fully enjoying Paris on a romantic getaway can be quite pricey, so i would advice to bring your handsome to cover or share the costs hahaha…
Paris is very expesinve place, especially most of the places and restaurants that I like to see or to visit.
Last time in Paris, I was there with my BFF to celebrate a birthaday of our mutual friend. The whole 3-day weekend was amazing, and she showed me many places that I have never known before. Still, I have to find a cheap place within the borders of the City of love.
As soon as possible, I will write about staying in Paris as a couple, with kids on the family visit, and with friends. All of theses experiences are great and they are all different.
Ok. Let’s concentrate on what happened last weekend.
We stayed in Melia Vendome Paris hotel,my first time staying at this place and actually even in this area. I always drifted towards taking a hotel closer to the Eiffel tower or its vicinity. The reason was generally because I usually come to Paris by car.
This downtown quarter, District 8, is a very charming place. It happens to be the most important street with shops near to the Louvre mueseum and Vendome square.
We were just 5 minutes of walking from the Hotel Costes, which also has a great restaurant. Make sure that you have reservation here because if you don’t, the girls by the reception might have a bad humor with a slight bitchiness in their voices (female feud I suppose). Right, just a bad experience for my first time there.
Thanks goodness we had a great waiter who saved the day, gave us a better table and even better service.
By the time we had our glasses filled with wine, the unpleasant hostess was long forgotten. Afterall, everythnig went just fine, the food and drinks and our waiter was great!!
Coming alone without kids I had time to make this little trip outside of Paris, to Riems Champagne area, wordily known for its popular…hmm..CHAMPAGNE!
I was waiting and making plans for so long to visit this place, that I have enjoyed every single minute. I did my Champagne tour with Pariscityvision, which brought me to two different little towns, Reims and Epernay. Definitely I will do it again.
Back in Paris we had dinner at Matignon is a place that is both inspired and inspiring, with its restaurant designed by Jacques Garcia. And it’s a club by Charles Tassin. Just amazing from the begginig to the end, just a great pleasure to be there. Totally recommend this to you.
Next day on Saturday morning, I had my complete breakfast in our hotel and we went out to walk around. We saw some amazing stores around us, by the way, the new Loius Vuitton store is opened, after four years of renovation project.
Loius Vuitton made a great return to a place where it was founded over 160 years ago. Just on the corner of Vendôme square and Parisian street, there is very important fashion area, and definitely the best shopping place.
From there on we went to Armani Cafe restaurant. I must admit, we had reservation in another place, but it didnt workout and Armani was the closest second option for us. I called to make sure we could go in and get a table, and they just received us with open warm welcome. The food was fabulous, get more details on my Tripadviser profile.
As normal, it was time to take a nap, and to get rest and ready for the later party!! Sounds great, right! Since I didn’t have my kids around, I could move around easily without really paying attention to a time frame, schedules etc. (I absolutely love my kids, but I really needed that time for myself… let it go with the time, without looking at my watch or phone).
Let’s not forget why was I in Paris to begin with. It’s Birthday party time!
We had dinner at Manko Paris, which was a great ”success”!! And later on our party moved to a club called RASPOUTINE Paris, discoteque for the local elite, since you have have to buy a whole table to get in. Basically, you have to be a V.I.P. to party there. Not a cheap thrill by any means. But great music!!
Being the firsts ones to leave the club and make it back to our hotel made me realize that I am getting old. Or maybe more responsible, since I had busy schedule planned out for the following day.
Sunday morning, I wake up later than I wanted, had my coffee at Mandarin hotel, and actually, tha was a great idea!! (Guys, you should try the Mandarin hotel in Barcelona as well, situated in the city centre, Paseo de Gracia. It’s a 10!)
We were walking on the street Paresian until get to the avenue des Champs-elysees. It was a nice stroll with many stores opened (on Sunday!), difficult for a shopper not to buy anything.
Then we had lunch at Al Ajami Lebannese restaurant with the whole group from the last night and of course everybody showed up with a hangover and a story to tell. So much fun!!!
Being in Paris and not visiting the most famous landmark, the Eiffel tower, is straight up unforgivable.
So we took an Uber and we did the tour. Afterwards, we were walking around in the streets, chily but beautiful weather, we treated ourselves with an excellent crepe, perfect ending for my stay in Paris.
Au revoir

We don’t know how they are being produced but they surely amaze us. We would go to the end of the world to see it in person. We are talking about the Northern Lights, a natural phenomenon. The one that will take your breath away. Surely, you have heard about this natural wonder, and you also probably seen this magic through a video. In the north of the planet the magic happens, places like Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Alaska, Finland and Canada are the privileged so consider any of these destinations if you want to enjoy this phenomenon.
On the contrary, the cameras are more sensitive, just adjust it so that Capture images with high explosion and voila, you’ll have the best pictures of your lifetime.
I can tell you that there are pictures of Northern Lights that exceed what the eye Human can get to catch.
The Northern Lights are produced thanks to the interaction of the particles solar with the earth’s atmosphere. The clash of these particles with the magnetic shield of the earth attracts the poles and they release energy by penetrating into the upper atmosphere. That whole process is what produces the beautiful and hypnotic colored lights in the sky.
Now the colors of magic will depend on the atomic species of particles and the level of energy they release. Northern Lights with beautiful shades of greens have been observed, but also there are red and blue, even a fabulous combination of all those colors.
So if you are very lucky and you are in a place with altitudes of 100-200 km
Surely you will see a green northern lights. Red northern lights occur with oxygen emission above 200km while the blue auroras are born by the emission of particles of nitrogen at 120 km.

Don’t you think it’s great? The explanation is that the solar particles they discharge Light emit that sound. A complete experience for lovers of nature that are willing to appreciate the greatness of the universe.

A Life with basketball (player–coach)
Over a decade, my life has been around basketball. Constant travelling, moving, packing, getting to know many places, many people, many cultures and languages.
I am not going to lie. It can be very hard sometimes, but we should always look at the bright side.
I firmly believe that things happen for a reason and we should take full advantage of them, when they present themselves.
My husband switched careers, going from being a player to become a coach, but the basketball lifestyle hasn’t really changed. On the contrary. It seems like there is more basketball around, and let’s face it, it’s not really a safe occupation, where you can get fired within few lost games in a row.
My take, and my duty, is to be supportive and, many times, to be independent and having time to myself.
Let’s just say, that I have no problem of doing what I like the most, and that is to travel and explore (as you can see on my Instagram profile).
I have met many amazing other basketball wives, being in the same position as myself. And with some of them we create beautiful memories and good friendship, to support each other. I have seen the struggle some of them were having, mainly due to culture differences, and of course, language barriers.
My recommendation is to try to learn at least little bit of language the locals speak, because that’s the best way to come closer to your surroundings. In that case, you are able to communicate better with people, and trust me, most people all around the world appreciate the effort, a foreigner makes to speak their native tongue, especially the ones that are very hard to learn and speak.
My husband taught me Czech over a decade ago, just the basic stuff, really, and made sure that my pronunciation is very good. Guys, you wouldn’t believe how much difference it makes to be able to understand and communicate with other Czech people around me. My time in Prague has been great, mainly since I understand them, and they understand me (well, most of the time…wink).
And then it’s the part of being adventurous. I have always been this type of a person, that gets easily bored doing the same stuff and I can’t stay put too long in one place.
Therefore, exploring is the best way to use my time, and I absolutely love it. I understand that we are all different, and not everyone is the way I am. But you can always get to know or be aware of someone close by, who will be the catalyst and get you out of your routine, which can be boring sometimes.
That’s why it is important that the basketball wives should be more in contact, share their experiences and help each other out. We all live a life that it’s not easy but at the same time, if used properly, offers many things that many wives just can’t have.
So, let’s embrace the fact that we get to live this type of life, many times, it’s a matter of only few years. Well, in my case, I have been living this life for 13 years now, and it looks like a new adventure is a waiting to happen. Stay tuned!

FAREWELL OF THE CZECH BASKETBALL LEGENDS
This past weekend I was a part of the unique basketball event in Czech Republic that celebrated careers of two top players of their generation, Jiri Welsch and Lubos Barton, who happens to be also my husband. Both players were born in 1980 and their careers ended last year, respectively three years ago in Lubos’ case. Welsch played many years in NBA and had a good career in Europe. Barton played college ball for 4 years before returning to Europe to win many titles. They both played for the senior national team since very early age (1997) and finished almost twenty years later. Therefore, Czech basketball federation tried to give these two one more chance to showcase their fans their skills and also their character.
The weekend started on Friday; little golf tournament was held near Prague in one of the top golf courses in Czech Republic. Many famous and important people were present, but it never took away a spotlight from both players. Only Welsch played golf, Barton was more of a spectator.
At night, team dinner followed up, in a close circle of around twenty people, many people knew each other, some made new friendships, just like always happens on such occasions. After dinner, little bit of night life was in order but must for few drinks (wink). Gotta keep it professional because next day, the main event was going to be held in near town, Pardubice.
Not every player gets a chance to have a farewell exhibition game, in front of their families, friends and fans. Not everyone can choose his teammates for the last game. It was very clear that this event is going to be a lot more than a basketball match. Players (both teams featured many very good ex-players, from all around the world) were relaxed and they were having good time, the atmosphere around was being contagious by it. The event took place in an ice hockey arena in Pardubice, but its size was perfect for such occasion.
Other thing that is very important for any exhibition are the people behind the scenes, who make possible many different things around the event. I am talking about logos, presentations, sponsors, TV, special effects, merchandising, charity, TV and media coverage. Just so many things normal person would have never thought about. And they did a very good job.
During the game, there were many media timeouts, games between the two, some funny and awkward moments, bringing them closer to the fans. There were video messages from important people that couldn’t make the event, on a big box screen, players like Ricky Rubio, Gianluca Basile, or coaches like Aito Garcia Reneses or Sergio Scariolo.
Three minutes to go, the game was stopped, and both players got their time with a microphone in hand. They took this opportunity to thank their families, wives and friends for support, thanking everyone who was involved in the event, trying not to forget somebody.
I could tell that there were lots of emotions going on, but definitely the positive ones, knowing that this was it and they were saying their last goodbye to the game that gave them so much. And they were doing it together and with their families present.
Symbolically, my husband made a game tying three point shot 5 seconds to go, and Welsch instead of trying to win the game with the last shot, put the ball down on the floor and hugged Lubos.
It was almost like from some Hollywood movie. What a way to finish their careers!!!

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. If you are making mistakes…you’re Doing Something. “
“You need to believe in yourself and what you do. Be tenacious and genuine. Christian Louboutin “
He fell in love with a poster whose protagonist was a shoe and, in a way, it all started there. He worked at the Follies Berger and also, as a freelance designer until, at the beginning of the 90s, he launched his own firm and became the French shoemaker of impossible heels with red soles. From then on, everything was growing and gaining notoriety, yielding feminine will everywhere. Last Wednesday he was in Barcelona for the grand opening party of his first store, on Passeig de Gràcia, which opened in March 2018.
It would be too easy to think that Christian Louboutin, designer of luxury shoes, is as haughty as his coveted red-soled stilettos, which elevate the most daring up to 12 centimeters off the ground. Nothing could be further from the truth. The French designer is a kind, simple man and who loves to talk. “I never dreamed of being a great designer. My goal was only to do beautiful things.”
He grew up surrounded by women, with three older sisters and a very present mother, and he has always felt very comfortable in the company of women. In addition, he affirms that women also feel comfortable with their company. It is a matter of admiration, surely mutual. Although some may think otherwise, because the height and shape of stilettos does not convince all of them, Louboutin says he designs shoes to empower women. He feels wonderful the power that have a pair of heels to enhance a style, a silhouette. “Shoes can change a woman’s way of walking, the way she moves, they can create magic, illusion and desire, and those are the things I love,” she says. At less than 12 centimeters, Christian Louboutin is a down-to-earth designer but also a visionary.
He knows that his heels rub against the impossible but he defends the sophistication on the naturalness and in that field the heels always win, especially if they have the red sole, moreover, Louboutin says that there are not high heels …
” High heels are pleasure with pain. “
He is currently considered one of the most important shoe designers in the world. “The higher the better. It is more a question of attitude. The high heels empower the woman in a certain way. “
